In all seriousness, who uses WebSphere? It's flogged relentlessly on Developworks, but as far as I can tell no one outside of IBM actually uses it. |

I know at least three large corporations that do. I would suspect that almost every IBM shop that is replacing old CICS screens with java/GUI's uses it. That would probably include almost every manufacturing, banking, insurance, and [name any branch of the economy or government here]. You can build the connectivity to a legacy mainframe db2 table by hand with other technology, but since these companies probably have Websphere, and MQ series already included in their IBM site license, and they work together well... It just makes sense. They've already paid for it and it does what they want. You just have to add another GB or so to every developer's workstation. Websphere is the giant behemoth that people always thought Emacs would grow up to be but didn't. |
