It is here and it is now. I am short on every skill one needs to use computers. Several of the people of my son knows are just out of college and have the paper that shows they learned IT. They are not finding jobs. This area, New Orleans, is not good for working people, worse for people who do computer. A+/MScert/3+ years experience = $18000/year. Between the local paper and Craigslist I find a ton of IT jobs, when you expand the list to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and East Texas there are thousands of IT jobs. And how about the Linux admins? Geek Squad and Circuit City. The awareness of Linux is growing, mostly due to the savings on license fees and software. Some independent contract people doing Guerrilla marketing. Thats what I see, here in the N.O. area. Not being in the IT trade this information comes from people working in IT that I talk to. YMMV |

A friend of mine is in Huntsville, AL and he says they're hiring like mad. If you're interested let me know. |
