A month or so ago I was in a meeting with a full fledged Appl$ enthusiast. Actually in this case enthusiast does not really do it justice. The iphone subject came up and this was what he said. "I would love to use the iphone but they are going to lock me into having to use one wireless provider. So I will be passing on it. If they let me choose who I would have service with I would use it." I did not research this as I have no intention of using an iphone. In fact I brought up the rumor of the gphone and he seemed very interested.

As consumers become more familiar with using technology in their everyday life they begin to want freedom of choice. Based on my conversion with this individual who told me straight out that he was a "neophyte" when it comes to technology. He would use any "smart phone" that gave him the choice in who provided his cellular service. It makes sense too as cell phones have been around long enough for us to have developed relationships with our provider of choice. In his case long enough to have had a bad experience with the iphone cellular provider possibly being shoved down the throats of appl$ biters everywhere.

In marketing this new phone it may be worth pursuing that now you get to choose. It may make sense to market Linux in the same way.

Linux! The power to choose is now yours! :)
