This "tutorial" is incomplete, IMHO, in that it omits several Slackware based distros that are geared toward newbies. Three that come to mind immediately are VectorLinux, Zenwalk, and Slax. I would say to Steve Emms, "Why have you chosen to omit Slackware-based distributions and focus only on Debian- or Fedora-based distributions?" This inquiring mind wants to know. John |

Or you could offer Steve Emms some help, and contribute your own suggestions. |

Quoting:I would say to Steve Emms, "Why have you chosen to omit Slackware-based distributions and focus only on Debian- or Fedora-based distributions?" This inquiring mind wants to know.Is one reason possibly because Slackware-based distros are _considered_ (by Emms?) to be less popular than Debian- and Fedora-based ones, as indicated by the likes of DistroWatch, http://www.distrowatch.com ?? The latter two base-distros are generally rated on DistroWatch higher than Slackware -- in the first dozen HPDs rather in the second dozen or so HPDs. Well? Here is yet another inquiring mind. |
