Quoting: BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The "free software" protester who barged into an award ceremony with Microsoft chairman Bill Gates at Beijing's prestigious Peking University has triggered a vigorous debate among China's Internet users on his motives and cause.http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2007-04/22/content_6011685... |

I wish more people would protest universities inviting rapacious evil billionaires for speaking engagements. The fawning and adoration are sickening, and he never utters a single word that is not either self-serving or empty PR blather. |

@henke54: Why don't you submit all those stories at http://lxer.com/module/newswire/stories/ (the "Submit Story" link at the top) instead of posting them to the forum? They'll get much more exposure that way. |

Aside from that, posting an entire article in the forums is entirely inappropriate. |

Usually it takes only a few hours for the stories to become available. It depends on the backlog and (I think) the editor's whim (a.k.a. how "big" is the story). If something you submitted doesn't appear for days then something probably went wrong and you should notify one of the editors. |

Pretty much the only time something submitted is not posted is if there are articles already relating to the subject or that the exact same article is already in queue to be posted. henke54, You have my word that I would never ignore nor purposefully keep something you submitted from being posted. You are always on top of things, especially concerning the "goings on" in Europe and overseas in general, at least from the point of view of us here in the states. :-) |

Yeah, agree to the above. We would be very happy to have you as a 'news poster', since you are always up to date it seems, and link to very interesting stories. |

I typically post reader-submitted stories straight to the Future queue. It has to be an obviously unrelated story to get rejected. Most stories post within a day. |

> Most stories post within a day. My experience is that it may take up to twelve hours for a story to post, but never longer than that. |
