You know I posted twice to their hot news page over a period of three days, and I finally followed up with an email on the fourth day, and they didn't even bother to thank me. |

Maybe another reason why women don't get involved in LUGs. ;-) |

Or guys who aren't complete dolts. :) |

I've been trying to figure out why I have absolutely no interest in LUGs. Perhaps it's because I get all the tech talk and support I need from IRC, or... ??? I just don't see the thrill of sitting around with a bunch of geek guys in the real world. If it was Don, or Ken, or Scott (heck even Dino :D) close by, sure, I'd probably be there, but I want to see TC and tracyanne there too. Otherwise, I'll just stay at home. The real world has both men and women. I like it that way. |

Jim, my purpose in getting involved in the local LUG was to meet local Linux users and hopefully be able to demonstrate enough technical proficiency at some point to be able to get an IT job. Maybe, maybe not. Still, I enjoy the technical discussions, and even just getting to know people locally. For me, it's much more about networking than getting technical support. |

TA...Are you talking about Me? I should hope not. I have sent over 70 emails to my friends and associates notifying them that I am working double/split shifts due my people being out with the flu. Someone has to fill their jobs while they are out and I am the division manager, so I have no choice in the matter. If you feel slighted in any way, I assure you it has not been my conscious or unconscious intention to do so. You have been and I should hope, are a friend to this effort. I would hate to see it otherwise based soley upon mis-comminications. EDIT: *blush* ...sorry TA, three hours of split-up sleep a night for the past 5 has left me goofier (someone look that up...goofier, lets make sure helios gets nailed for a lousy speller too) than normal. I see now your point. He rarely in the past three years answered my emails either. My bad. Oh...here's a good tag line that is ripe for isolation and to be taken out of context: I sure picked a bad day to stop injecting methamphetamines h h |

Quoting:TA...Are you talking about Me? I should hope not. I NO NO NO NO NO. I'm talking about Desktop Linux and Steven J Vaughn Nickols. I posted on their Hot News page, and after 3 days they hadn't bothered to report on the Tux500 thing. SO I posted again, and they still hadn't, So I emailed them. |

Tracyanne, I would still blame helios. |
