I dunno, I just graduated summa cum laude with a degree in computer science. Does that make me stupid? Whatever the case, opensuse is my current distro of choice and believe me, I've seen a lot of other distros. |

Doesn't really float my boat, but I don't think people who use it are stupid. I reserve that for the Fedora crowd. ;-) (Just kidding Fedora...kinda...) Whatcha gonna do with that fresh CS degree? |

Quoting: Whatcha gonna do with that fresh CS degree?I'm still enjoying the freedom - just working, and then going home, is like being on vacation. I'll probably ramp up my consulting business, and also work at pushing linux a lot harder in my day job. |

I think Larabel's reader doesn't get out much. However, I started getting serious with SUSE 8.0 Pro. I could, at that time, boot my 350MHz/128MB RAM box and it would hit the login prompt as fast as the 1.xGHz box at work booting W2K. When I next upgraded, to SUSE 9.2, I found it to be no faster than the previous version, though I had expected it. I've installed SUSE 9.2/10.0 on the 450MHz boxes, followed by Ubuntu and then Debian. I finally installed PCLinuxOS on one box. In my experience, Debian is a good deal faster than any of the ones I've tried. That's just my experience, and ymmv, which is why I say that reader doesn't get out much. I don't think anyone is stupid for choosing a particular distro. I do think choosing Windows is generally a dumb idea - a chocie frequently made by generally intelligent people, many of whom lack good information. ;-) |
