The article raises some good points, despite the dopey headline, about how tech is growing so fast and has so much room for growth that's there's plenty to go around. It's not a zero-sum deathmatch for a fixed pool of customers. It does miss a couple of important points, like how Linux sales do not reflect usage, and how even Microsoft can use and benefit from FOSS code, if only they weren't so psychotic about the whole deal. Maybe they're afraid to contribute because all the real geeks will laugh at their inept coding? |

> all the real geeks will laugh at their inept coding? On the contrary, I could write programs all my life and never figure out how to get so many security vulnerabilities into so little code. Their source has to be very elegant. |

I never thought of it that way. :) |

Oh, I think there's lots of room for Windows and other Microsoft software. I've always thought the problem was getting the landfills to accept it. |

Thanks, folks. Ya really made my day. :))) |

Its the hazmat paperwork, anything that virus ridden has to have some hefty hazmat paperwork done before the landfills will accept it. |

Oh yeah. That _is_ right. Don't hazardous materials have to be incinerated? Naw, that would infect the air, wouldn't it? Do you bury it in Jersey? Hey, I know, we could send it all to some terror-supporting country. Well, I guess that won't work either - probably raise the hackles of the UN and get us invaded for human rights violations. That could make us look as bad as China. Ummmm... thinking.... thinking.... thinking.... I got it! Let's send it to outer space. On 2nd thought, I'd hate to tick off some extra-terrestrial being that can zap our planet with some Death Star-type device. O.k., break time. |

How about we just bury it all in Redmond where it came from? Just declare the whole area a hazardous waste dump..... |

I'd rather not dump it back on Redmond, since this is the kind of stuff that has a long half-life and we don't want punish the people there even after MS is gone. How about we have the miscreants fund a space mission to ship it all to Sol? |

Quoting:How about we have the miscreants fund a space mission to ship it all to Sol? As long as they are not the ones in charge of building, piloting, and anything else to do with the mission it should be okay. I would be very afraid of an M$ anythinged space ship. |
