Articles like this make me want to cuss. So I do, but not here. Such idiocy- where are all the analyses decrying the bogus proprietary EULAs that take away all user rights and recourse? **stab spit kick**

"For instance, some licences, including the current version of the GPL, require that all derivative works must "in turn" be licensed under the GPL — a rather difficult concept to accept if you have just funded extensive bespoke adaptation that could potentially give you an edge over your competitors. "

Awww, isn't that just terrible that you can't take all that great free code, lock it up, exploit it for profit, and never contribute anything back. How unfair. How unjust. There ought to be a law.

Well, there's a license. It's why I don't particularly care for using BSD, although I know from a purely technical standpoint it's as good as Linux. Freedom, however, does matter to me, and I don't like companies like MS or Apple taking the code and morphing it into proprietary programs. I think it's the reason that the gap between Linux and BSD is widening and will continue to do so. IMO

My advice is always this to these folks: If you don't like the GPL, don't use GPL code. Don't whine about it, write your own and STFU.
