No, the subject has nothing to do with anything. I just like typing it. Consider it an homage laid at the temple of TC. But... YES!!!! man is there. Man this, man that from a console and you have a wealth of information. In fact, T, if I may call you by your first initial, or, rather, by your handle's first initial, which is not to imply that you are some old piece of baggage, your mention of info informs us just a little on some other issues (cough!! GPLV3). Man is lovely, elegant, and there. To date, alternatives have not met its standard. Some (info) have gone above and beyond the call of duty to not meet its standard. |

> YES!!!! You say it so well, Dino. What else is there to add? Great article TC. |

And I second it. Motion carried--man is the best way to get information. Oh, how I wish Perl used the man pages more effectively. I do wish for better tools to search man pages. And while it's rare to wait more than a second or two for the man page, in this era of relatively enormous hard drives, I'd also like to know how to force all man pages to be uncompressed and preformatted. This is a ripe topic for articles... articles about creating and installing man pages, how to fix those annoying font problems that sometimes occur, and how to convert other formats to man... Maybe a longer article about why man pages are cool. |
