The author is right on- it's a fine piece of work. Of course he couldn't do more than scratch the surface of its capabilities. Some of the things I use it for: -Image view creates image thumbnails and displays the selected image full-sized -Instant simple HTML photo galleries with hyperlinked thumbnails -Configurable profiles, like File Manager, Web Browser, and whatever else your heart desires -Archives web pages into a single .war file, which is a compressed tar archive so you can read it without Konqueror -Configurable one-click previews -Built-in command shell and on and on....very nice indeed. |

The more I use it (now my primary browser for web and file management) the more I stumble on new features. It's one of the (many) things I miss when I am in my windows environment at work. |

Well, the rendering and speed is first rate. On the other hand, the insistence of konq to use kwallet for every little thing is insanely annoying. Since I by far prefer krusader for any file management, smb, and ftp, the rest of konq is irrelevant. I think I'm sticking with Opera. |

"Perhaps Microsoft borrowed this feature from Konqueror."
Well, come to think of it - Microsoft hasn't actually invented very much - has it? Because of its dominance it has had the luxury of being able to just lean back and watch risk takers fight it out - and then enter the playing field when time had shown which ideas had come to stay. But what I wanted to say is that I've been using Konqueror for a while now - and I enjoyed both this article and "Hail the Konqueror" posted not long ago. Both hail its "split" screen mode feature. I do too. And both fail to mention another of its real advantages that I just discovered a couple of days ago. That you can link split screens as in Opera. This is very usefull and similar to how RSS feeds are browsed in Akregator in Kontact. Click on links in one window and they open in the linked window. No need for drag-n-drop or tabs. To set it up, split the window, click the box in the status bar at the bottom and select "Lock to current location" in the 3rd button menu also in the status bar of the window with the links. Maybe Konqueror borrowed this idea from Opera. |

I have been working on an article about Konqueror but now I don't see the point. Between the two articles recently, I am unsure of what I can add that is unique. :-( |

It's easy to take konqui for granted -- it is just so versatile. Just the other day, I needed to install some rpms onto my remote web webhost. One window on the fedora download site, one window with an scp connection (fish:// -- beats me why) to my remote host, and drag 'n drop. OK...it's a bit silly and slow to drag that crap through my computer on the way to the remote, but, hey!! It's only bandwidth, I wasn't in a hurry, and it was just slicker'n snot. |

"On the other hand, the insistence of konq to use kwallet for every little thing is insanely annoying" As with most things in KDE, this is customizable. |

> As with most things in KDE, this is customizable. Done that Jackie. Kwallet has already been entirely removed. The truth is that I just don't like the feel or function of konq. It's better as a browser than a file manager, but, still not what I like. |
