ncftp is a great program... which I haven't used in years. FTP is the devil. As for sftp client, I don't even bother. I use Konqueror for any GUI needs and if you have ssh keys setup, you can tab-complete remote paths in zsh for scp. |

Yeah, I've gotten so I use krusader for the same thing. |

I use scp command line all the time (though I need to get those keys setup one of these days).
I never really got into any of the gui file management/transfer tools.
The closest I use is mc in a terminal window. :) But yeah, I rarely use ftp for anything other than retrieving updates for gentoo and such. |

ncftpput and ncftpget are great for scripts. |

I'm not so sure ftp is the devil - in fact I'm pretty sure it's not. It's always good to have choices, but sometimes ftp is the only mechanism available for certain purposes, and in those cases, ncftp is truly worth it's weight in gold. |

Untill standard shared hosting packages start coming with ssh2 access, ftp will continue to be needed. |

Well, ssh2 would be nice, but ftp is far from usless or dead. Most of the apt repositories are accessed either by ftp or http. Frankly, I haven't seen a difference in speed and reliability. About the only people I see using ssh2 are people who run their own servers. I have gftp which will run a ssh2 session, but I only use it to access the DebCentral site. |

> I'm not so sure ftp is the devil.... Of course not. Ftp is a daemon. Don't they teach these kids anything anymore? :) |
