le boborooster There is no Slackware presence at LinuxWorld SF. Why is this so?? Walnut Creek Software is verily located close to SF, and Slackware is hitting 11.x now. Does Patrick Volkerding not care ? One is bewildered. booborooster |

> Does Patrick Volkerding not care ? Probably not. The "enterprise" market pandered to by LinuxWorld has long ago decided that only Red Hat and Novell are suitable for their needs. Ubuntu seems the only candidate likely to be able to crash that party. The fact that Slackware and Debian make as good or better servers is beside the point. They don't have that "enterprise" level of support that the big boys demand, so they're deemed unsuitable. |

le boborooster: Ah, but Debian is CERTAINLY tres present! Their LinuxWorld booth in the corner plus the Debian offshoots Ubuntu, Xandros, Freespire (Linspire), ... etc. Now about getting Deb Etch at the LShow.... |

> Ah, but Debian is CERTAINLY tres present! Yes, but Debian has an entire organization representing it. Slackware has Patrick. He's very busy with the 11.0 preparations at the moment (as a quick check of the changelog will show), and probably doesn't have time to be there. |

"Yes, but Debian has an entire organization representing it. Slackware has Patrick. He's very busy with the 11.0 preparations at the moment (as a quick check of the changelog will show), and probably doesn't have time to be there." He'd rather be hacking than schmoozing. |
