Of all the places in the world, this could be, why encourage and support the state terrorism commited by current Israeli "leadership"?

Terrorism, it seems, is in the eye of the beholder...

But it's hard to see how Free and Open software types who happen to live in Israel are terrorists.

dino, duh, all that openness, accountability, and sharing are like totally freaky and must be stamped out. Think of the children, our moral values, and our precious bodily fluids.

tc -- hmmmmmm.

I see your point. Openness, accountability and sharing don't seem to be the norm in the Middle East, do they?

Sorry, but this one keeps flashing through my head.

OSDC meets in Israel. Major violence in the area (no finger pointing). Bomb, rocket, missle lands on OSDC gathering, wiping out most of the leadership....

Conspiracy theories anyone?

This is why I have long felt that the FOSS community needs to beef up its nuclear arsenal as a deterrent. We would never use it for first strike, of course. But what else is keeping "them" from doing exactly such a thing?

Jimf: Conspiracy theories anyone?

Steve Balmer goes out in style with suicide bomb attack that was triggered by the only one of Microsoft's so-called ipod killers that was ever built and detonated by the last steps of his famous Monkey dance!!

Oh well, I tried!!

Well, my real point is that, even if there is no conspiracy, Israel is a very unsafe place to hold a meeting right now.

I'll be passing on OSDC this year. Unfortunately, the cost of flying out of Charlotte prohibits me from endangering myself by flying to the Middle East. As for the terrorism, my Ma & Pa always said I was a little terror. Does that count?

Oh, did I mention that we would like to see Open Source Developers from the neighboring countries?

At least from those that have already accepted the existence of Israel.
