True, Snort does not have the GPL license in plain view on the website; imo it should be easy'er to find. Snort package has a copy of the gpl license, as it should; two open source dowload sites, Sourceforge and Freshmeat, both list Snort with details of the project along with that Snort is gpl licensed. I believe Snort should as Sourceforge and Freshmeat do, make the GPL license available for reading in a location that people to the site for the first time can find. Odd article, I don't know what to say about it. |

Either the U.S. federal government is overflowing with ignorance about the multitude of open source licenses, or else the article is pointing a worried finger at the wrong reasons for concern. Those are the only two explanations I can come up with, anyway. |
