"specialized niche areas"?

I'd like to see all the custom software written by contractors at NASA Ames research center for fluid dynamic modeling on the supercomputers there released OpenSource. What would be missing would be polish and "user interface" niceties, but isn't that the usual objection to the crude tools we work with every day? Seriously, I've seen the work they do there, they really would benefit the world by putting it into an accessable form for others to learn from. |
