Bah! Where is the joy, the challenge, the sense of accomplishment in running a computer without a front panel full of binary toggle switches and scads of flashing LEDs? |

jdixon: Also, think of all those poor, starving college students who can no longer get a job changing vacuum tubes in memory banks. All these easy, click-and-go GNU/Linux systems are ruining that job market! |

Xandros 4 contains a new feature - product activation. Should be quite familiar to those coming over from the Microsoft world. Under this scheme, you now have to ask Xandros permission to use what you've paid for, in this case, access to critical product and security updates. You can choose not to do this, but then part of the functionality you've paid for is disabled (Xandros Networks). So, if you're turning to Linux to get away from activation schemes and the philosophy behind them, Xandros is not for you. |
