My company has been selling Open Source multi-user systems since 2004. Our SLIM (Simultaneous Local Independent Multi-user) software is freely available as .deb packages for Ubuntu, preinstalled as part of a complete computer system, or as part of our Public Access software which can run from a live CD.

Our current offerings go up to 6 users, which is usually the practical limit from a layout and cabling perspective. With one user per video card, we are also able to fully support 3D hardware acceleration and multimedia playback. We will be releasing a 10-user version along with Ubuntu 6.06.

Although Userful doesn't publish prices for their licenses, I believe it costs over $1000 for their software for 10 users. We charge $99 per computer, not per user, for our Public Access software.

More information about our public access software can be found here: http://groovix.com/kiosk.html

Thanks for this! I'm looking it over now. May have questions later. Obviously, we prefer FOSS solutions around here! :-)
