MS has a certain marketing budget for this campaign. They / their marketing agency very likely bought a certain number of clicks for the ads.

If you cklick on the ads whenever you see them, you count their marketing budget down and prevent an innocent user from falling prey to this campaign.

One could even have the idea to have wget crawl and "cklick" on the ads for you. However, one should NOT to do so because that could be illegal in many countries.

Clicking on ads, by the way, makes Linux users being heard much more than you might think. Users that bring money are a website owners preferred users. Since only 1 out of 25 users or less usually click on ads, you as a Linux surfer count for 25 website users when you click on a ad.

wolfchri: I appreciate your thoughts. However, that is not our style. They have about $50 billion. Strictly from my point of view and I admit I learned to hold my ground even when getting overrun - that is, I don't retreat and I'm willing to take a (vinyl) bullet, I'm through putting up content with MS ads. I consider the ads the equivalent of porn.

A Firefox plug-in that stop the "Get-the-Facts" ad's.

A "black-list" to go with the glug-in.

At least a list of those sites that mix "Get-the-Facts" ad's with GNU/Linux content.

Someone on the Firefox team should be willing to do the plugin :).

Yes, the kind that leads you to a pay site that won't let you shut it down (only a problem with IE, of course).

IE == I'm Exploited!

No one sensible uses such a thing. There is simply no rational justification.
