The title of the article, "Survey: Financial IT Execs Say Jury Still Out Open Source" is much, much less hopeful than the numbers that survey reports. All the numbers quoted in the article indicate that the financial services sector is acquainted with open source, using open source, and understand some of the benefits of open source. I could not find the survey itself on http://www.actuate.com but the article has such examples as: "Two-thirds of Financial Services firms (69.4%) said they are already using Open Source software; Those in process of adoption was 5.6%; Those with plans to adopt was almost around 5%; and Less than one-tenth (9.2%) of firms said they have no plans to adopt Open Source. " Only 9.2% with no plans to adopt? That's pretty amazing. |
