Two things happened: Dave; and the Signal-to-Noise ratio. I stopped using /. as my source of news when Linux Today started (and I stopped using LT as my primary news source when LXer started). I stopped using /. as my source of "geek opinions" when the S/N ratio became unacceptable. This was about the time when all those who could string more than three words together into a parseable sentence posted their opinions on LT instead of /.. Whither goest Slashdot? Who cares! |

One thing I like about Slashdot is their rating system. I often try to go for a good humor post... some of my best: In reply to: Read up: MS isn't 100% bad. They have some good stuff and good policies sometimes. Don't complain about them point blank to improve your ego, you'll be the kid that called wolf too many times. I answered: I'm glad somebody brought this up. Truth is, not even Microsoft can achieve 100% bad, I believe they only claim to be five 9's bad... which is pretty good when it comes to being bad. In response to a discuss about FreeBSD vs. Linux, I said: Not sure if anyone has pointed it out or not... Most obvious distinction is that BSD (and I guess FreeBSD) is dead. Linux has yet to add that feature... or perhaps Linus is simply rejecting the patch for now. My guess is that he didn't want to junk up the kernel with rotting and decaying matter. He's probably looking for a good user space implementation of death. We'll see. In response to article about authors suing Google over illegal copying: Copying is very easy. Now that we have Google Earth [google.com]... I just leave my books outside. Scan times do seem to be a bit slow though. Have to move the books inside when it rains. That's all for now... Ok... I know.. I need to keep my day job. |
