I've seen this announcement, took a look at logos and well.. I think what most of you seem to think.. it's not quite right.. But I like graphic design and I thought I could give it a shot so here's what came out of my inkscape. See if you like it... http://www.nuxified.org/images/lxer_logo.png And here is how it would look on LXer.com: http://www.nuxified.org/images/lxer.png It can be any sizes and changes can be easily made as it is in SVG format. :) Cheers Daniel |

This is pretty good. The width of the L seems a little wide leaving a lot of "empty" space between the L and the X, The er maybe a little too high as well. That being said it seem to balance fine as is |

I can see where the current design might be perceived as being too difficult execute well on a T shirt. Nonetheless, I see no good reason to give up the current design on the LXer pages. For consistency? It just looks too good to be dispensed with so easily. |

Well I made three more slight variations and put them on a page: http://www.nuxified.org/images/lxer-logos.html Herschel, I agree actually that the current logo looks pretty nice as well and I've gotten used to it, but I can understand the urge for a change to possibly something even nicer. What I was thinking is the combination of this http://www.nuxified.org/images/lxer_logo.png and a Tux/penguin/bubles like in this http://www.imagekafe.com/image.php?image=ef3cb.png Since you guys have all the images, see if you can combine them. I will try but not that proficient. |

Abe, look at the image 5 and 6 at this page: http://www.nuxified.org/images/lxer-logos.html I've tried incorporating chenlevy's tux in it although without bubbles.. You also got the links to SVG sources so anyone that wishes can modify. :) Cheers Daniel |

I love #5 but it is a little aesthetically challenged. Not sure how to make it more elegant though. Perhaps if the foot of the Penguin was thinner, so it looks more like an L |

librervis, Looks good, a little more time to refine would be worth while. I sent Dave a colorful one I hope he will post for everyone to review. Better yet, may be Dave would publish all of the samples in one page to select the one with most votes. Time to go to bed! |

The layout of #5 looks a bit static, but it feels like a good way to proceed. You might try combining it with the "don't fear the penguins" graphic which is floating around the community (can't remember source or artist at the moment but that's the ALT text) by turning the X into a cluster of other penguins, offsetting the "sentinel" look of the one on the L. That fits more with the way the site runs, anyway, with Tom, DC , et al, on watch, spotting stuff that might affect the rest of us and alerting us to it. If the penguin superimpositions get too cluttery, you can have them throw a shadow which is clean typography. |

I did two more variations that you can see on the page as numbers 7 and 8: http://www.nuxified.org/images/lxer-logos.html Number 7 is just a slight improvement of 5 as the penguin is a bit thinner and lower so that it fits the "L" letter better. The eight is a rather adventurous attempt at making an X out of penguins. :) SVG sources are also available below as links 7 and 8 so anyone can take and improve. Cheers Daniel |

Libervis Yes, the last one is excellent. Ask your artist friend Pascal to do one more showing Tux swimming and carrying LXer on (Her/His) back. |
