Thanks for the insightful article. By following the line of reasoning, though, one would have to include websites such as Sourceforge, that provide a nice service to the community but have decided somewhere along the line to betray their origin by closing the souce. Why has the Sourceforge fork (Savannah) not put enough pressure on the original site to force it to behave properly? Can the fact that the most popular repository of free software projects is in fact a closed source website be considered a defeat of the free software movement, or something acceptable? |
