WTF? OO.org 2 is in the Debian repo already!

I'm not sure when the article was written, but all you have to do is just apt-get or use aptitude. I updated to OO.org 2 several weeks ago using aptitude. The author mentions he is using Kanotix, but wouldn't it be better to just download the .debs from the Debian repo instead of trying to fudge around with alien and rpm packages? Title is misleading; should be "Installing OpenOffice.org 2.0 for Debian-based distros that don't have OO.org 2 in their repos yet." |

Well, it's nice that he's telling people about alien, and it's fine if people want to acquire OO that way, but, in many of the nOOb Distros forums, I see many users getting into trouble that way. It is probably much safer and certainly much easier to apt-get them from the repo. I do notice that the article now notes that the latest OO 2.02 is available now. |
