12:03 PM EDT 		Now what does Microsoft have to gain and what does SouthAfrica have to lose?

First, Microsoft gets to stop open-source anywhere they find it.

Second, South Africa will continue to lose its freedom and the ability to create its own ecosystem and technology will never become a growth industry in SA.

Now, if you can find out if bribes were paid and raise enough of noise, perhaps the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) could become an issue.

What do your officials have to gain by doing business with Microsoft besides personal gain?
