An wait for the Sun / Google announcement one hour away. Bet the idea is to have Star / OpenOffice on your main machine and use Google office seamlessly when away. Incl file access stored at Google.

And you know OO.org will use Google store as well eventually...However, I can tell you the company I work for would never rely on remote storage...although they are listening to me on OOo migration talks. Currently they run Office 97 still since no one really does anything other than open attachments. They want to upgrade to Office XP but I may get them convinced otherwise.

Devnet: If they upgrade to Office XP, they will have to activate the product and then they're stuck in the upgrade cycle. Eventually, they'll have to change if they ever want out of it.

While this article does reflect the estimates from Massachusetts, I would have preferred a little more information. The cost was 90 percent cheaper because of hardware and OS upgrades needed to support Microsoft Office 12. And, in a sign that Massachusetts get it, the Massachusetts IT guy said they were not switching for monetary reasons. The other reasons are even more important. The cost saving are a nice dividend.

the Sun/Goggle announcement was broad-casted by all dutch news shows (all 3 of them). with the open source /free software terms royally aired, so it is good enough for me.
