If one of the modchip BIOSes will netboot, you can even toss out the failure-prone hard disk.

What you need to do is:
  • chip it so it will boot unsigned code (or get a signature)
  • Make a VGA adaptor out of an LM1881N, two capacitors, a resistor, the original video cable and a VGA lead
  • Replace two of the 5-pin el-bizarro USB connectors with standard USB sockets
  • Add a USB keyboard and mouse
  • If you're not netbooting it, install Linux (Mandrake from LE2005 onward ship an XboX ISO image, you can even install using a game controller as a mouse if your application doesn't need a keyboard and mouse (e.g. advertising display)
