Holding up a release to squash bugs? Microsoft would never do that. They don't worry about bugs. Their delays are caused by not being able to deliver their vaporware..... you know: The Next Great Thing! After a few delays they strip the guts out of "The Next Great Thing", ship it, and declare it a masterpiece. |

Maybe so -- and squashing bugs is a very good thing. So, however, is getting software out the door before it's obsolete. All of the recent (and well-deserved) excitement over Firefox heading towards a double-digit market share is possible only because the Mozilla folks gave up and surrendered to Microsoft while developing their "Vision". Firefox has a chance to overcome the Mozilla blunder because Microsoft has let IE -- which doesn't produce revenue -- languish in the absence of competition. Of course, OpenOffice may be able to overcome Office for the opposite reason: Microsoft keeps actively developing it -- to Microsoft standards. ;0) |
