"Open source DVD burning software hit by legal threats"
http://trends.newsforge.com/trends/05/07/05/140214.shtml?tid...
"The threat of legal action has stifled several open source efforts that allowed interoperability between Linux-based computers and Plextor DVD burners. Plextor parent company Shinano Kenshi accused two open source developers working on the PxScan, PxView, and PxLinux software projects of infringing their rights and committing unfair commercial practices in the developers' mention of the projects on various discussion forums." The whole deal sounds weird, and Plextor, as far I can find out, has not responded in any way. If they really are acting like unmitigated asshats, scroom. There's lots of alternatives to Plextor. |

Hey Plextor...listen carefully to the approaching footsteps from behind. Lacie, Inc BenQ and Liteon...oh wait, there is another...Samsung. They all either plan for Linux firmware or now support Linux via K3b. Stick your hardware in your neck...and have a nice day. helios |
