Heh, funny article: "The question at hand is not whether Red Hat's version of Linux is superior to that of its competitors. The marketplace will make that determination and we can keep score via Red Hat's financial performance each quarter." Since when does the marketplace support superior products? Answer: never. It supports superiorly-marketed products. It then makes some assumptions based on air, then bases its conclusions on these airy assumptions. Which is as good a method as any, I guess, as share value rarely has any relationship to the actual value of a company. The best result for Red Hat shareholders would be for some behemoth like Microsoft to buy them out. |
