WTF? They had to create *scripts* to make a tape drive work?

Plug drive in, maybe identify a module if HardDrake doesn't come up with the goods, tar to /dev/mt0, how hard is that? I also wonder how carefully those LDAP tasks were selected. Any normal LDAP task is pretty much follow-the-recipe. In fact, the native existence of stuff like awk and PERL make shoehorning existing lists into LDAP a heck of a lot faster and easier on Linux than on dumbed-down MICA. Maybe RHAS 3 shipped with a dodgy OpenLDAP? Does anyone know? This smells like another MindCraft fiasco. Not saying that the testing itself was dodgy, just that Microsoft's careful selection of the parameters was a kiss of death. Kind of like comparing a Mack with a Lada by doing drags and handling tests, then timing the drivers as they did stuff like changing tyres and washing their vehicles down. |
