Spend the 60 bucks and get a brand new LinkSys WRT54G/GS which will get you multiple 100Mbps interfaces a built in switch, wireless connectivity (if you want to use it for that, which it was originally intended). You can do iptables firewall, Openswan IPSEC VPN, etc: http://www.openwrt.org/ http://voidmain.is-a-geek.net:81/ http://voidmain.is-a-geek.net:82/ Note, I actually use a Pentium 100 running Linux for my firewall but when it finally dies (been waiting for that for years now) I am replacing it with one of my WRTs. |

void_main, thanx for the link to openwrt.org. I didnt know about that project. Fooled around with sveasoft stuff but went back to linksys' firmware - think I give openwrt a shot :-) |

No problem. I've been running OpenWRT for a while now and it's quite amazing what you can do with so few resources. It's pretty easy to build the firmware and customize it to your needs, especially if there are packages already built. If you can't find a package for what you need let me know and I'll help build one (as long as it isn't OpenOffice or Mozilla). :) |
