IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- ATEN Technology, Inc., an innovator of high-quality KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) and remote connectivity products to centrally manage servers, network devices and IT infrastructure, today announced two new rack mount CAT5 KVM switches designed to eliminate traditional cable management problems and offer extended distance capabilities for up to 130 feet from the single-user KVM switch. The new KH1508/KH1516 CAT5 KVM products, available in 8- and 16-port models, feature a three-year warranty and are priced competitively at $399.95 and $499.95, respectively. Using daisy chain technology, the products can access up to 256 and 512 computers when connected to an additional 31 units. In addition, the KH1508/KH1516 can be expanded for remote management of servers and data center devices when connected to ATEN's CN5000 KVM on the NET control unit.

The KH1508/KH1516 is designed for small and medium-size server rooms and data centers such as education environments and government organizations. Both units offer CAT5 technology geared specifically to IT administrators who require a cost-effective KVM switch that will not clutter their data installations. These new switches support a wide range of PC interfaces including PS/2, USB, legacy Sun, Sun USB and serial. The KH1508/KH1516 also provides the highest levels of video resolution -- both units can seamlessly maintain 1600 X 1200 resolution when located 100 feet away from the CPU via the CAT5 cable. At 130 feet, the switches can output 1280 X 1024 -- the highest specification in its class. With these high video resolutions supported in long cable distances, IT administrators gain more flexibility to configure and position the KVMs strategically within a server room.

Other Highlights of the KH1508/KH1516

* A single console controls up to 8 (KH1508) and 16 (KH1516) computers
