The patent application Amazon didn't want you to read

Amazon is trying to sneak through another absurd patent. But, they have been caught out.

The patent application Performing automatically authorized programmatic transactions, naming Jeff Bezos as an inventor, was filed with a nonpublication request, aimed at keeping it secret from the public until after it was issued.

US patent applications are usually published at 18 months, but for some reason known only to themselves, Amazon wanted to prevent this. Were they considering a "submarine" strategy?
