How Windows 10 is Fairing

Windows 10 has been with us since the end of July, but even with it being mostly given away for free, it does not seem to be fairing that well.

The latest version of windows, "Windows 10" was released in July 2015 as the first version of windows as a service. The idea of one final ongoing version, rather than incremental version numbers with various service packs, aiming at keeping all windows pc's the same.

Its an interesting concept, and is similar to many linux distributions on a rolling releace cycle, but unlike linux, many people refuse the free upgrade.

At the time of writing, http://www.netmarketshare.com reports that the most popular version of windows is 7, with a 56% market share.

Windows 7 - 50% Windows XP - 12% Windows 8.1 - 10% Windows 10 - 6%

Even the POST EOL Windows XP has a greater share than the current flagship OS of Microsoft. There are many reasons for this, some are as follows.

After Vista and 8, many users are reluctant to upgrade There are concerns over privacy

The issues not only fall to the OS itself, many users are abandoning computers in general, as most of the daily usage we had for computers less than a decade ago, can all be handled by mobile devices.
