Open Source Casino To Fund Open Source Development

Corvallis, Oregon, April 1st, 2009 - Linux Fund is pleased to announce Linux Fund Casino, an open source online gaming site that will launch immediately upon the impending repeal of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), the proceeds of which will benefit Linux Fund's mission to support open source software.

"The Casino represents the perfect third weapon in our funding toolbox that already includes the Linux Fund Visa Card and online donating." said David Mandel, Linux Fund Executive Director via satellite telephone.

Linux Fund Casino will debut with Penguin Poker, Beastie Blackjack and GNR or "GNR's Not Roulette."

Linux Fund is also in negotiation with the tribal elders of the Chepenafa tribe about the feasibility of joining forces to open a casino and entertainment complex on the Chepenafa reservation near Corvallis.

New wave entertainers including Gary Numan, Devo, Ty Semaka and Thomas Dolby have all demonstrated interest in performing when venue is ready.

Linux Fund Casino will the first site of its kind to be built entirely using open source software. Linux Fund has partnered with PokerSource.info and freelance Perl developer and author Randal L. Schwartz to develop the Gambling::Poker, Gambling::Blackjack, Gambling::GNR and Gambling::HouseAlwaysWins modules, all of which are available today on CPAN under the Artistic License.
