EEE PC 900 Frag Fest

Now that my work was done I decided to look for an FPS game that would run on my new EEE PC 900.

I recently bought an Asus EEE PC 900 w/ Linux pre installed. I thought it would be good for trouble shooting networking issues as it is light weight and easy to move around from office to office. Not to mention the compact size seemed like a perfect fit for on-the-go usage. After removing the graphical interface and allowing it to boot into KDE I immediately felt at home once again ( HowTo ). I have even installed BlackBox just to have an even faster desktop experience.

Now that my work was done I decided to look for an FPS game that would run on my new EEE PC 900. The EEE PC 900 is not a graphics powerhouse so I took a look at the Cube game engine. I then downloaded the Assault Cube game and gave it a run. Not that it should surprise me but it not only ran, but it ran so well I was up and running Online in no time. I'm sure there are others out there that will run on an EEE PC and would love to put a list of them together.

Just goes to show that Linux is not only good for a workstation but also a mini laptop / frag station. Be seeing you “ through the cross hairs “.
